Blanc Languedoc – Château La Vernede
Chateau la Vernede Blanc Languedoc AOP
This is an organic wine from Chateau la Vernede. It is produced by Marion Paux-Rosset, daughter of the owner of the famous Château La Négly. It’s her first domain and her first wine has become an instant hit!
Languedoc AOP (formerly Côteaux du Languedoc) is limited to the vineyards of Hérault as well as the vineyards of La Clape and Quatourze in Aude. This is over 100 miles west of Roussillon.
Chateau la Vernede Blanc is an organic Languedoc wine produced from 50% Roussanne and 50% Grenache Blanc. Roussanne is grown on the southwest side of the hills that rise above the Aude plain. The soil is composed of red marl on a layer of limestone. Grenache Blanc is planted on «la garrigue de la Vernède»; where the soil consists of clay, limestone and gravel.
Only 35 hl / ha are harvested for Roussanne and 50 hl / ha for Grenache Blanc. The grapes are vinified at a controlled temperature of only 16 ° C for 12 to 15 days.
The vineyard is run organically and only animal manure is used in the vineyards. Vines are pruned manually to obtain the best exposure to the sun.
The cuvée is stored in steel tanks for approx. 6 months before bottling.
Chateau la Vernede Blanc Languedoc AOP has a light golden color. The scent has a complex floral character with undertones of exotic fruits such as mango and banana. The taste is powerful, fresh and full-bodied. A wine that should be enjoyed young and within the coming years.
Serving temperature 8 – 10 ° C.
